Fall in number of asylum seekers illegally crossing into Canada

The amount of asylum seekers illegally walking into Canada from the U.S. border has fallen dramatically in September from August.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) intercepted 1,881 asylum seekers in September, compared to 5,712 from the month before. This leaves the total number of border-crossers to 15,102 so far, according to data from the Government of Canada.

Toronto needs to back up its sanctuary city designation

Toronto is a sanctuary city.

But that doesn’t mean enough is being done for undocumented residents. A city has to be able to back up that title by providing adequate aid to asylum seekers while eliminating their risk of deportation.

Trump praises response to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico

President Donald Trump visited San Juan, Puerto Rico on Tuesday to survey the damage, meet the locals and attend a briefing, almost two weeks after hurricane Maria made landfall on the island.
